As the term implies, our motive and aim for the day was – in simple terms – to show LOVE. Many children if not all in orphanages have a sense of neglect, feeling of abandonment, etc. Our FEED THE CHILDREN project always serves as a means of encouraging these children who have been through so much at such an early stage of their lives. We aim and strive to show them that people do care and love them. People who aren’t their parents or relations, people who aren’t their proprietor or staff of the orphanage who may be paid salaries to take care of them, just random people who have the ability being blessed by God to show them love and care. These kids need to believe they can achieve their hearts desires no matter their situation.
The event kicked off at 1:30pm as we were received by the proprietors Mr and Mrs Dzreke. It was a very colorful occasion as we had made arrangements for the provision of a bouncy castle and 2 animated characters for the kids amusement and also the use of a Dj to provide music for the occasion. Just as the pictures and videos will show, the children(45 of them) had so much fun, the look of joy and happiness on their faces was priceless and can melt the coldest of hearts.
We had employed the use of the kitchen staff of the home to provide the meals for lunch for the day. Thus we served the kids when they were hungry, and they also had an abundance of ribena, biscuits and sweets.
The staffs of the home were not left out, as we insisted they sit back and relax, and be served for a change.
As our main focus is to reduce child mortality, we also have to consider the well-being of children with regards to health care. Thus before we departed, we presented the proprietors of the orphanage with medicines for malaria, multivitamin syrup, vitamin c, cough syrup, a first aid box with supplies to fill and replenish. Provisions were also donated.
